So I realize it is mid-January don't worry, we still would like to send you our best wishes! (I've been meaning to send a letter like this for a few years and I'm not waiting till next year)
Rachael and I just celebrated our 3rd anniversary. We graduated from BYU in April 2009 then moved just outside of Washington DC where we are both in graduate school. Rachael is excited to be graduating this May with a Masters in Speech Language Pathology from Gallaudet University. I did research isotope physics for a year and I am now on a PhD in Physics at George Washington University, doing research in Biophysics, with several years to go.
Over Christmas, thanks to Steve, Rachael was surprised to find out we would be celebrating an addition to our family. After much anticipation, her suspicions were confirmed. It took a while to decide on a name but we settled on naming her Luna, our new black kitten.
Equally exciting, we're pleased our fixer-upper house is finally into a home. Over the Christmas holidays, Rachael and I worked hard picking out and lining curtains with the help of my mother and siblings. Additionally, we spent many hours installing new base molding and began painting some of the trim. We appreciate all the help and support from both our families, friends from school and church. (Rachael's dream right now is to get HGTV'd to remodel our kitchen. Feel free to check it out here and please vote low meaning that it REALLY needs help) The house definitely keeps us busy in our spare time.
At Church, Rachael works with the teenage girls. Of course they all love her and she enjoys being with them. I was recently asked to be the Elder's Quorum president or the group leader for the young adult men. It means a lot of organizing but I'm looking forward to the new learning opportunities. Previously I worked a lot with the missionaries as the Ward Mission Leader. I enjoyed working with those new to our congregation and will miss it.
Please keep in touch. DC is a great place to visit, so if you will be in the area, let us know! We have room. Here are a few photos, hope you enjoy!
